Kick Turns Clinic
Charman Rd Beach Carpark
8:00 AM – 10:30 AM
"How do I get around the corners?"   At the recent State Titles Tech Race at Pt Leo, it was great to see such a large field and so much enthusiasm.   Everyone had a a good start and decent board speed buoy to buoy, but most paddlers were caught short at the turn markers.    With the emphasis in the future being on shorter course events [with more turns], here's the opportunity to learn what it takes to "Chuck a U-Turn" at that crucial moment. [Do you feel your HR rising?]   This clinic will cover:   - Setting up the turn - Footwork, balance & bladework - Upwind & downwind turns. - Turning under pressure - Getting to "Know" your board [I will break down specifics pertinent to what you're paddling, every board is so different] - Exiting & accelerating from a turn. - Party trick turns [great way to impress your mates!]    I've scheduled this clinic specifically 2 weeks ahead of the Aust Titles Tech Race, so for those of you who want to tune up pre event, then here's the ideal opportunity to gain that advantage and become more confident when you're out on the course.   Even if you're not thinking of doing the Tech Race, this is a great way to unlock the mysteries of what it takes to turn.   Expect to be pushed, expect to get wet, expect to come out the other end and be so stoked that you've jumped on the "Progression Train"   Numbers as per usual for a specialised clinic are limited, so get off the fence & book this in!             Social paddles included in SUPVIC financial membership https://supvic.tidyhq.com  Leg Rope essential. 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Social Paddle for Saturday, October 4th at Point Leo. High tide is close to 9am, so we’ll aim to get on the water at 8.30am which will give us a good depth of water for at least 90 minutes. Parking in Raws Reserve near the Point Leo Boat Club. This is not a surf session, and we will keep away from the breaks if there’s a good swell and crowd out on the point. 8am arrival for 8:20am safety briefing and on the water 8:30am Of course, if you want to catch runners for the session, that’s definitely fine. The paddle direction will be NW towards Merricks, turning around to be back at the start around 10am. We will finish up with a ten-minute litter pick up around the foreshore. #Take3forTheSea. More details will be posted a few days before the paddle, including confirmation about the weather and water conditions being suitable.   Mark Renouf hosting   #take3forthesea   Social paddles included in SUPVIC financial membership https://supvic.tidyhq.com  Leg Rope essential. "How to" Sup Surf Clinic
8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
So, you love SUP but think back to those first visions of how you percieved the sport and my guess is "I want to ride that wave!" To many, learning how to paddle onto a wave and ride it is the "Holy Grail" of SUP. Well, if you're a competent novice/intermediate paddler and dreaming about unlocking the code to what it takes to "Go Surfing", then here's your opportunity. This Surf Clinic won't take you from "Zero to Hero" but what it's designed to achieve is showing you the ropes of how to become a confident Sup Surfer. What we'll cover in this clinic is - reading & predicting weather/swell forecasts - locations, tides and conditions - observing & recognising waves & hazards - surf etiquette [super important] - catching "that wave" & reading the conditions - footwork, paddling skills, surf technique - gear recommendations. This clinic is limited to 5 people to ensure a high level of personal attention.  Any hard board is suitable, a wetsuit is essential as is a passion to progress through having a bag load of fun! This will be an action packed "Half Day" clinic that will put sup surfing at the top of your list!            Social paddles included in SUPVIC financial membership https://supvic.tidyhq.com  Leg Rope essential. Sup Vic is keeping the tradition alive!! This day is going to be like no other you've seen before A few years ago, Surfing Vic gave Sup Vic the opportunity to run both the State Titles Tech & Marathon Races due to the depth of experience we have amongst our ranks.  Tech Racing is the the most achievable of the two disciplines due to it's short course format (2-3 kms) Any paddler of intermediate standard with a 12'6" or 14'0" board can take part in this race. It's a super fun race that leaves a huge smile on all participants faces.  The bonus being a Victorian is that you can also transition your form into the Australian Sup Titles at Phillip Island in October. More fun and essentially our home break Time to get the heart rate up & see why "Bop" is all the rage!! Special entry offer for new (or re-activation) of SUP Vic membership with complimentary entry to the BOP race.   As part of our epic line-up, we’re bringing you THE BIGGEST Board Demo Day you’ve seen in a decade! Infinity Surfboards – check out two brand-new race boards plus five SUP surfboards ready to ride. NSP – the all-new 12'6 Omni will be waiting for you plus other favourites. Smik Surf SUPs – bring the fun to every wave. RED Paddle Co – the leaders in inflatable innovation. Naish - Innovation meets pure stoke SUP Foils + Downwind Foils – because flying is the new paddling. And because no good session is complete without it — we’re firing up the BBQ. Let’s paddle, laugh, get salty, and sip coffee together Please note: It is not essential to bring your pup - if you just want to paddle there will be paddlers without a pup If you do bring a pup please ensure: Your pup has good recall, is friendly and social, can swim and has been on the SUP before as this is not a learn how to paddle with your pup session. (Make sure you have your doggy do bags too) Depending on yours and your Pups experience on the board, wear appropriate clothing on the paddle, bring a change of clothes.
