2021 Port Phillip Cup - February 21
Chelsea Yacht Club
8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Chelsea Yacht Club SUP Vic was formed over 11 years ago and aims to hold great SUP events with something for every one in the SUP Vic family. The Port Phillip Cup was one of the club's first events and has been on the calendar for all 11 years. This year we take the Port Phillip Cup to ‘new’ Port Phillip waters. The 2021 event will be held at Chelsea for the first time and will be based out of the Chelsea Yacht Club. This event has something for all club members and paddlers, so bring your friends and family to enjoy the stoke (all entrants, club members or non-club members, are required to enter online). The Port Phillip Cup is an 8km Race (around inflatable race-buoys), with a beach start and finish. There is also the Port Phillip Cup 4km Social Paddle for those looking to get on the water for a more leisurely paddle, whist still mixing it with the race crew - the Race and the Social Paddle will take place simultaneously. Beyond these, we are holding several other SUP activities; see below. Please note that the Port Phillip Cup will be run strictly in accordance with covid-safe principles and the club's covid risk managment plan and any government directives. This includes the requirments for attendees of not attending if feeling unwell on the day of the event, physical distancing on the beach and around the registation desk, completion of an 'event attendance form by an offical at the registation desk, hand sanitising on arrival and when attending the rego desk. A copy of the  Entrant categories are as follows: Port Phillip Cup Race – Open Women & Men, Over 50 Women and Men, Junior Girls and Boys (12 years to 16 years)  Social Paddle – Women & Men, Junior Girls and Boys (12 years to 16 years) Other events: Introduction to SUP skills for new paddlers Introduction to Technical Racing (beach starts and race turns) Kid’s race (short course) – for the U12s (weather/water conditions depending) Red Paddle SUP Dragon boards Safety on the Water: Paddlers must wear a leg rope during all PPC events. Racers and social paddlers must wear a high vis top during the actual race/social paddle. Due to covid, SUP Vic will not be supplying water or sunscreen this time – please ensure that you come equipped with both. NOTE: In compliance with our SUP Vic Covid Policy, entry will be on-line only. Those who may wish to enter on the day, will still be required to do so on-line (can do via a smart phone). On the day entries incur an additional ‘late entry fee’ of $10 per adult paddler.  Finally, please note that only registered Race and Social Paddlers are permitted onto the course during the race/social paddle. SUP Vic Paddle, Presentation & AGM
Chelsea Yacht Club
3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
As a club, we are always looking to do things better and a bit different. With this in mind, this year we are having our AGM on a Saturday afternoon following some paddle time on the water - especially given Covid's attack on our club paddle opportunities. So this year's belated AGM will be about some fun time on the water, the presentation of club trophies, a bit of overdue social time and then club business. As we head into a hopefully Covid-normal new season, with club events planned for early 2021, we encourage every one to get along and reaquaint yourselves with your fellow club members and to be part of this 'AGM event'. In spite of a Covid-enforced layoff for most of 2020, the future of our club still looks very bright and we encourage members to take part in this and our 2021 programme of events. We realise that some may not be able to be with us on the day, so we will live stream the presentation of awards and the AGM part of the event.   Trophies to be presented on the day: 5k Virtual Challenge Winners SUP Vic Pod Achiever Awards Club Heart and Soul Award Surf Champions Port Phillip Cup Great Melbourne Paddle Downwind Daze Champs 2020 Club Champion   Finally, a bit of housekeeping for our 2020 'AGM event'. The club will be operating this event strictly in accordance with government Covid regulations and the club's Covid-19 Policy document; ie, attendee records completed, hand sanitisers available, social distancing expected and food and beveridges served strictly in accordance with regulations. And of course, like all other events, if you have any covid-like symptoms, then we expect that your will not attend in person - but of course you can stream-in if you're up to it.  SUP Vic will be putting some 'cash on the bar' for members and their guests, but we expect at this stage that food catering will be off the cards. This event is for current members and a guest; check your membership is current, as quite a few memberships elapsed in the shadows of our covid-effected 2020. We will also be following covid regulations in relation to group numbers, so it is important to 'purchase' a complimentary ticket for you and your guest. Finally, if you have any interest in helping out with the workings of club and would like to join the committee team, please let one of the existing committee members know prior to this event. And a reminder that our our club's constitution dictates that, in order to stand for a committe position, you must be a current member and that your membership has been active for in excess of 10 days prior to the AGM.

And if you are not competing, get along to watch this fun and challenging event and to support the competitors.   So, get on board with the 2020 SUP Vic Surf Weekend ASAP. Book it in and bring your friends and family along.   IMPORTANT - in respect of the virulent nature of Covid-19, we ask that all attendees at the weekend and the dinner - and all SUP Vic events going forward until further notice - refrain from the usual methods of greetings,( ie, shaking hands, kissing) and stick with the universal surf greeting of a ‘shaka’. This prevents any potential embarrassment of individuals who are choosing (as is their right) to avoid traditional greetings during these trying times and of course has the potential to help with the prevention of the spread of the virus.  We also advise that SUP Vic will follow the direction of the federal government with regard to Covid-19 and any SUP Vic events/social functions going forward.
