This year the SUP Nationals are heading to Victoria. To help you to be ready for this high profile event, or to simply get along and broaden your SUP experience and skills and abilities, SUP Vic is running a training weekend that will include coaching on surfing, distance and tech events . We will have a mini-bus with board trailer to help you get there and back. Bookings for a seat on the bus (an 11 seater) are required in advance of the Training Weekend. Bus bookings are presently open to SUP Vic members only, but will open-up to non-members (if there are still seats avialable) two weeks out from the event on 23 August. Of course interested non-members can always apply to join SUP Vic now at this website - only $50 per year. Attendees also have the option of driving themselves down to Phillip Island. SUP Vic has organised an accommodation deal at the Ramada Resort, Phillip Island - 7 mins south of Cowes by car. The Ramada deal is $90 per person for 2 nights (Firday & Saturday). This is on a room share basis, which can be determined closer to the event, Please book a ticket for Ramada accommodation. It has to be booked in advance! We are also looking to organise a social dinner on the Saturday night.  Should be a ripping weekend of paddling and social fun time! Get along and share the stoke.

          SUP VIC WINTER SURF CLASSIC EVENTS FOR 2019 Event Dates: Point Leo – May 18/19. June 1/2. Aug 31/ Sep 1. Sep 14/15 (Note: this final event is a 10ft longboard competition only.) Point Impossible – June 15/16 at this event the club will provide ‘live heats’ with accredited judges and Surfing Victoria’s head Judge. If you have been selected to represent Victoria in the upcoming Australian titles, you could tune up your surfing skills in front of accredited judges at this event.   There are some very cool trophies for the overall winners, men’s and women’s, at each event from St Andrews Woodwork Scott Hanley.   For each of the event dates we have a weekend window to run the event and will select the best possible day based on conditions. In the week leading up to the event we will make the call on Wednesday or Thursday, allowing us time to check the surf conditions to run the event or in the worst case, cancel the event. Please check SUP Vic members Facebook and emails for updates and start times.    Event entry cost: Pt Leo, $20 per event Pt Impossible $30 Non-SUP Vic members are required to pay an additional $15 per event (note, annual membership of SUP Vic is only $50). For non-SUP Vic members, it is important to note that you are NOT covered by SUP Vic insurance. The additional $15 is to help offset the costs of permits, etc, that the club pays for its members. Entry for each event is via this site (SUP Vic Tidy Club - Events) under each individual event. Important Information Pre-registration ONLY for each event. There will be no registrations on the day. Registration cut-off as follows: Point Leo events: Thursday 5.00pm prior to the scheduled week end's dates. Point Impossible: Monday 10/6/2019 at 5.00pm. Note: There are no refunds for surfers who pull out of an event after entries have closed. This ensures a smooth running of the heats during the day. If an event is cancelled you may request a refund or a credit for the next event. Please advise the club accordingly at info@supvic.com.au   On the day Please ensure you arrive early to prepare yourself for your heat. Start time and approx heat times will be communicated. Each event can run up to 4 to 5 hours. You need to provide your own water and food and bring warm clothes or a good warm jacket to wear over your wetsuit between heats. We will endeavour to allow all competitors to get a minimum of 2 heats per event. All heats are 20 minutes and the final maybe up to 25 minutes. If you have to leave early or cannot get to the event for some reason, please inform the competition organizer.   Etiquette on the day The club has a permit and permission to run events at the surf breaks, but we do not have exclusive access to the surf break. Therefore we can only ask other surfers who wish to surf there that they respect our request to move to another break. We will have ‘Event in Progress’ signs on display. Importantly, there is to be no ‘free surfing’ during the competition by competitors, club members or friends, as this could both interfere with the competing surfers ability to earn points on the wave  and potentially encourage other surfers to surf in the competition area. And of course, please respect your fellow competitors throughout the event(s).   We would like all competitors to share in the judging at the Point Leo events. This is also a great way to learn about wave selection and analysing the surfers’ abilities on the waves. The 2019 Sup Vic AGM is to be held upstairs at Hobson's (19-21 Melrose Street, Sandringham) at 4:30PM. The AGM will be followed by drinks and canapes to celebrate SUP Vic's 10th Anniversary. All are welcome to move downstairs at Hobsons for dinner at approximately 6:30PM - individuals to pay for their own meals. Time to head 4 hours down the road to take part in the annual Gipplsand Lakes Charger Paddle Challenge, presented by Surf Life Saving Lakes Entrance and endorsed by SUP VIC. This is one of the great events on a SUP racer's calendar Choose your challenge: Paynesville to Lakes Entrance - 27km Meetung to Lakes Entrance - 13km Entries Open 14 March. Early Bird Entries Close 15th April. Entries Close 11.59pm, Monday 30 April. Entries will close if event capped numbers are reached prior to 30 April. Come along for the annual SUP Vic Surf Weekend. This weekend is dedicated to fun in the waves on your surf SUP. The event is based out of Point Leo, but the location affords us the opportunity to head to many different surf breaks, depending on wind and conditions. This weekend is open to all SUP Vic SUP surfers, irrespective of your SUP surfing prowess - it is a fun event and does not involve surfing competitions. We  will have some SUP surfing information sessions on Saturday for those keen to hear from the experienced SUP surfers amongst us. Accommodation is at the discretion of the individual members. Many choose to bring their camping gear along and stay at the Point Leo Campground, whilst others choose to hire local accommodation. There will be a booking at Flinders Hotel for counter meals on Friday and Saturday nights for those interested. There is no registration fee for this event. NOTE: The Surfing Victoria SUP Technical Race (BOP) State Championship is also to be held during this weekend at Pt Leo. The event will be held early Saturday afternoon - exact time and location to be posted a week out from the event. All those keen on racing in the BOP state championship need to strap your BOP board onto the roof as well as your surf SUPs. As this is an additional event, you will have to enter for the Surfing Vic SUP Technical Race State Championship separate to the SUP Vic Surf Weekend via the Surfing Vic website. If your not surfing or competing in the Technical Race, make sure you get along to witness this exciting event and to cheer on many of the best paddlers in the state as they charge in and out through the swells in the hunt for the State Title!!! Finally, please note that this event could be held over for the Sunday (28th) if the conditions are not favourable on the Saturday.

The Surfing Victoria Technical Race (BOP) State Championships will be held at Point Leo on the weekend of April 27/28. The actual day (Saturday 27 or Sunday 28) and time will be confirmed by mid March - with the opportunity to move it to the alternate date if the forecast warrants it.  Note: This is the same weekend as the SUP Vic Surf Weekend, also held at Point Leo. This is by intention. The BOP race will be sheduled during low tide, which is not suitable for most peninsular surf breaks. As this is an additional event, entry to the SUP Vic Surf Weekend is via the Surf Weekend Event on SUP Vic Tidy Club. Entry details for the Technical Race to be posted soon.

The Info Will and Mark at SUP-FIT are teaming up with  James and Sam from RedPaddleCo and Warwick from KR to provide an opportunity for you to improve your SUP skills and knowledge at Safety Beach on March 16th. As with all our lessons, we’ll move to a better location if we need to.   Will and I have found that most of our paddling clients ask about iSUPs as an alternative to solid boards, so if you are wondering what an inflatable board is like to paddle and how to get the best performance from one, then this is a fantastic opportunity. So what’s on and who is making it happen?  There will be a great range of RedPaddleCo iSUPs there to try out.  SUP-FIT Instructors, Will and Mark, each with dual accreditation as SUP Instructors/Coaches (Surfing Australia/ASI) Sharon rom SUP-FIT who has had success at National Level and overseas in distance SUP events.  Warwick from KR with his wealth of experience and expertise in all things SUP.
