SUP Tech Racing: Intro and Intermediate session
Cosy Corner Beach
12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
SUP Technical racing is one of the most fun activities you can do on a SUP Board. Essentially, Tech racing is a lap course, going out and back through some smallish surf. It is achievable for most SUP paddlers with some preperation. So here is your chance to prep-up for SUP tech racing!! To help you to gain some new SUP paddling skills, SUP Vic is running an intro/intermediate tech racing session at the delightful Cosy Corner beach, Torquay. Club man Warwick Lee, who has had great success at a state and national level, will be running the session which will include an 'on the beach' info session (on how to prepare for and understand the principles of this event) followed by some active water time to put your new knowledge into practice under Warwick's tutorledge. You will need to supply all your own equipment - board (preferably a 12'6 of 14'), paddle and legrope (compulsory). This event is FREE for SUP Vic members and $20 for non=members Please note that if there are not sufficient participants registered by 8am of the morning the event (17 Feb) it will not proceed. So if this is something that you have been keen to do and or are keen to further enhance your tech racing skills, this is the ideal session for you.

SUP Vic Downwinder Intro & Intermediate Session
Mornington Peninsula
22-10-2022 7:00 AM – 23-10-2022 4:00 PM
Want to get into downwinders (downwind SUP paddling)?? Want to increase your knowledge and skillset and be ready for our Downwind Daze series this summer? Then this Downwinding skills session is for you! And for those who hadn’t even thought about it, downwinders are one of the most fun sessions you can have on a SUP. The session incorporates some beach-time tutelage on: downwind weather forecasting and conditions planning your Downwind Session board and equipment information important downwinding water safety information This will be followed by on-the-water tutelage focusing on paddling in windy conditions, catching runners, staying on course, etc. Our aim is for some good beginner/intermediate downwinding conditions (15-25 knots). So, in order to help to attain the best possible conditions (and wind direction as well as strength makes a huge difference for downwinding), the location will be chosen as late as possible and final information will be sent out to registrants on the Thursday evening prior to the event. As wind strenght and direction is impossible to predict, there is a chance it may be an up-wind, down-wind session. That said, the location will be Mornington Peninsula-based. To get the best out of this session we encourage you in the interim to concentrate on your paddling competence and fitness in calm to light wind conditions. Your session will go better if you have the right board for downwinding – a 14’ board is desirable with 12’6” also an option. We encourage downwind novices to read our Downwind Intro sheet (on our www.supvic.com website, in the ‘About us’ page) prior to the session. NOTE: All registrants are required to bring a leg-rope and high vis top. A waterproof mobile phone case and 'on-board' water are also desirable.

09-07-2022 7:00 AM – 10-07-2022 9:00 AM
Round 2 of the SUP Vic Winter Surf Classic sees us back at Point Impossible on July 9 or 10. As per tradition, the Point Impossible comp includes live heat judging by a Surfing Victoria surf judging panel. This is an Open Womens and Mens event. However, depending on number of registrants by age range, we aim to run a series of age group sub-categories, both Womens and Mens, Over 40s, Over 50s, Over 60s. There will of course be the finals for the Open divisions. If we have sufficient registrants to warrant it, we aim to have the top four from each age group that progress the furthest/score the highest through the heats, to compete in their respective age group final. Once again, this will depend on numbers and available time. Event entry cost: SUP Vic Members: $45 Non-SUP Vic members tickets are an additional $15 per event (note, membership of SUP Vic is only $50 per annum) Entry is strictly via pre-purchase of a ticket; see following.  Important Information Pre-registration ONLY for this event. There will be no registrations on the day. Registration (ticket purchase) opens Monday 20 June (Monday 27 June for non-SUP Vic members) and cut-off is strictly at 5:00pm, Monday July 4. Note: There are no refunds for surfers who pull out of the event after entries have closed and if the event goes ahead. The above ensures a smooth running of the heats during the day. As always, we have a two-day window to run this event, but it will be held over only one of the two scheduled days, depending on the best conditions. Don't forget, we also have Round 3 at Point Leo on Aug 13/14 and the 10' SUP Longboard Surf Competition on Sept 10/11, also at Pt Leo. Please note: If a surf event is cancelled for any reason, your registration fee will be automatically refunded as soon as possible following event cancellation.

SUP Vic AGM - Annual General Meeting
The Bridge Hotel Mordialloc
4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
IMPORTANT INFORMATION – CHANGE OF VENUE Please note that the 2022 AGM will now be held at the Bridge Hotel, 1 Nepean Hwy Mordialloc (not the Chelsea Yacht Club as previously advertised). The meeting will be upstairs in the Bunnerong Room. The major part of the AGM is the election of committee members for the 22/23 club financial year. The Committee is responsible for the direction, management and development of our club. Please note that the SUP Vic Committee is looking for new members to join the committee; ie people who love SUPing and are keen to help in the management and growth of our club. Please also be reassured that committee membership is not a particularly time consuming role, with meetings mostly every second month. The SUP Vic Committee is comprised of four ‘executive’ positions (President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary) along with up to four4 general committee members. Several members of the existing committee will be standing down at the October AGM. We also request that attendees order a complimentary ticket prior to the AGM - see below. This is to help us to comply with government Covid-19 regulations and to get an understanding of attendee numbers prior to the meeting. The meeting will commence at 4:00pm and will be completed by approximately 5:00/5:15pm. Once the official part of the meeting is completed, we will move down to the café for a couple of rounds of drinks and some hot snack foods, courtesy of SUP Vic. If any members are interested in joining the SUP Vic Committee, could you please take a few minutes to advise any of the existing committee members (members are listed on the SUP Vic website) prior to the AGM. Likewise, if you have any questions regarding committee membership, please take this up with any committee members between now and the AGM. For those of you who cannot make it to the Bridge Hotel on Sunday for this year’s AGM and would like to vote, we will be accepting proxy votes in accordance with our club constitution – a copy of the Proxy Voting Form is attached to this email. The Proxy Form must be completed and signed prior to the commencement of the AGM and in the hands of the Chairperson prior to or at commencement of the meeting. Note: Proxy Forms that are emailed to the Club must be received by the club (info@supvic.com) no later than 24 hours prior to the commencement of the meeting (by 4:00pm Friday October 8). A proxy form will be emailed to all members prior to the meeting. Please also note that only ‘active’ (paid members) are permitted to vote at the AGM and or stand for a committee position. If by chance your membership has lapsed and you will not be able to vote and or stand for a committee position, as, in accordance with our constitution, you need to renew your membership a minimum of 10 days prior to the AGM.
